Maharashtra: Chandrakant Patil announces engineering, medical courses fees of students, who lost parents in COVID, to be paid by gov

Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil today announced in the State Legislative Assembly that fees of the students, who lost both their parents during the COVID pandemic and are enrolled in engineering and medical courses, will be paid by the government. He said this while replying a question during Question Hour.

Earlier, State Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the accidental death of prominent Maratha leader Vinayak Mete has brought to the fore various discrepancies with regard to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Making a statement during the Calling Attention Motion in Legislative Assembly, Mr. Fadnavis said that due to wrong information the rescue team could not reach the spot where the accident took place on time.

He said, henceforth, a system will be developed wherein the exact spot from where the phone call was made will be identified and the information about this will be given to the concerned Police Station.

He further informed the house that Mete’s driver is constantly changing his statement and as a reason the probe will be conducted by the probe team under the guidance of Additional Director General of Police.

Later, senior Congress Legislator Nana Patole raised the issue of threat messages from a Pakistan number on the Whatsapp group of Mumbai Traffic Police about spreading 26/11 like terror attacks in the city. To which, Speaker Rahul Narwekar asked the government to make a detailed statement on the floor of the house.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in Legislative in Assembly Ajit Pawar brought to the notice of the house about the hostile attitude among juveniles. He said the ill-effects of social media is affecting the behaviour of juveniles. He said that a man was killed by sharp objects in Baramati on 18th of this month by a group of juveniles. He said, the main culprit had previously have been involved in a serious crime.

Mr. Pawar said that no strict action was taken against him and was released by the court on the grounds that he is a juvenile.  However, the same person has been once again accused in the murder of a man. He said that strict action be taken against the juveniles who are involved in serious crimes and they should not be left scott-free just by putting them in the children’s home.
