Two civilians hurt as terrorists hurl grenade
Two civilians were injured after terrorists hurled a grenade at a Central Reserve Police Force bunker in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, officials said.
The incident took place at 8:50 pm near Sangam market in the south Kashmir district’s Bijbehara area, they said.
As the grenade exploded, the two civilians sustained minor splinter injuries, the officials said.
The injured were discharged from the hospital after first aid, they said.
Meanwhile Security forces arrested two terrorist associates of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
Police along with Army and CRPF have arrested two terrorist associates of proscribed terror outfit LeT in Budgam, a police spokesman said.
He identified them as Shahnawaz Ahmad Bhat, resident of Kralpora, and Sameer Ahmad Najar, resident of Gund Chekpora, Kanipora.
Incriminating materials of proscribed terror outfit LeT, ammunition including two AK magazines and 54 AK rounds were recovered from their possession, the spokesman said.
He said both the arrested terrorist associates were involved in providing logistics support and transportation of arms and ammunition to the active terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT in Chadoora area of Budgam.
A case has been registered and further investigation initiated, the spokesman said.
Moreover, the Security Forces also arrested a “hybrid terrorist” of Lashkar-e-Taiba involved in the August 15 grenade attack on a minority habitation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district, taking the total number of arrests in the case to three.
The terrorist was identified as Suhail Ahmad Malik, police said.
“Police today arrested one more hybrid terrorist of proscribed outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba who was involved in a grenade attack on minorities,” a police spokesperson said.
He said incriminating material including a hand grenade was recovered from Malik’s possession.
On Saturday, police arrested two other “hybrid terrorists” of LeT involved in the attack that took place in Gopalpora in Budgam’s Chadoora area.
A civilian was injured in the attack.
