If Mufti, Azad contest polls in other states why non-locals can’t vote in J&K, says BJP
Amid row over inclusion of non-locals voters in electoral rolls of J&K, Former Deputy CM and senior J&K BJP leader Dr. Nirmal Singh stoked another controversy on Tuesday by asking the ground over which former Union Ministers Mufti Mohd Sayeed and Ghulam Nabi Azad contested elections from other states of the country.
While talking exclusively to The NEWS NOW, Dr. Nirmal Singh said, “All-party meeting held at the residence of J&K National Conference (NC) President and MP Dr. Farooq Addullah in Srinagar was to deceive the people of J&K especially Kashmiris.”
He blamed that these leaders were misleading the Kashmiris and trying to drag them away from the mainstream and push them towards extremism.
Nirmal Singh asked the leaders present in the meeting especially PDP and Congress as to why they remained silent when Mufti Mohd Sayeed was elected from Muzaffarnagar in UP and became Union Home Minister and Ghulam Nabi Azad elected from Maharashtra and became Union Minister.
Dr. Nirmal Singh lambasted the parties present in the meeting for creating hurdles in implementation of provisions of Indian Constitution in J&K and for instigating the people of J&K against the non-local people putting up in Union Territory for the past many years.
“The Constitution of India gives voting rights to people who are living anywhere in the country and the Constituent Assembly of which NC and Congress were its part after Independence”, Dr. Nirmal Singh said and stressed that all the provisions under the constitution will be implemented in J&K.
Singh also asked these leaders to go through the provisions of Indian constitution and they must know that the provisions adopted in 1950 will be implemented now in J&K as the erstwhile State has its own constitution of 1957.
He refuted the allegation that inclusion of non-local voters will benefit BJP and highlighted that the party’s motto is to implement the Indian Constitution in letter and spirit across J&K.
