Jammu yet again to get Rehari Zones under Smart City Project
Nearly five years after failing in executing the venture of establishing Rehari Zone, the Jammu Municipal Corporation has yet again initiated to set up the same in parts of the city under Smart City Project to ease day to day traffic congestions.
Official sources said that the road widening process is already in progress to decongest
them but in days to come, an exclusive Rehari Zone will also be established in different parts of the city to further facilitate smooth sailing of the commuters.

“Rehari zones are in making and once they will be completed, thereafter roadside vendors will be shifted to the spots to operate their business,” he added.
The official further said that the Municipal Corporation has also constituted the Rehari Zone Marking Committee, which will identify places in the city to set up these zones.
Ajay Gupta, chairman of the Social Justice Committee of the Municipal Corporation, has been given the charge of the committee besides corporators Dr.Akshay Sharma, Nidesh Gupta, Anil Masoom, Gupta and Rahul Kumar are included as its members.
“The committee will suggest and identify places for Rehari zones in all 75 wards and only undisputed space have to be earmarked for these zones,” said an official adding, “no street vendor will be allowed to continue functioning randomly in the city area in future.
Earlier in the year 2016, he said that the Jammu Municipal Corporation started the work of creating Rehari Zones in the city and 47 zones were marked but the project could not take off due to some unavoidable reasons.
At present, Gandhi Nagar Rehari Zone locally famous as “Jammu Ki Chaupati” is among one of the most happening places in the City.
