HS Prannoy to play men’s singles quarterfinal of World Championships in Tokyo today

In the BWF World Championships, Indian shuttler HS Prannoy will take on China’s Zhao Jun Peng in the quarterfinal match today.

Prannoy defeated compatriot Lakshya Sen 21-17, 21-16, 21-17, yesterday, to enter the quarterfinals. In the men’s doubles, the Indian pair of M.R Arjun and Dhruv Kapila will take on third-seeded Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia today.

They beat Singapore’s Hee Yong Kai Terry and Loh Kean Hean 18-21. 21-15, 21-16 in a 3-game thriller yesterday. While, seventh seeds Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, will battle it out with Japan’s Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi for a berth in the semifinals. They comfortably beat Danish pair of Jeppe Bay-Lasse Molhede 21-12, 21-10 in the third round yesterday.
