Sensex rises 344 points, Nifty trades above 17900

The Sensex and the Nifty opened on a positive note this morning. When the market opened, the Sensex rose 344 points at 60038, while Nifty rose by 115 points at 17912. Rally in metals’ shares helped the Sensex to hit the 60000 mark.

All sectors including Auto, Bank, FMCG, Healthcare, IT opened in a green. Gujarat State Petro, Shree Cements and  Induslnd Bank zoomed when the market opened this morning, while Rain Industries, HPCL and Balrampur Chini slipped.

Most of the Asian bourses, including SGX Nifty, Nikkei 225, Shanghai Composite and Straits Times opened in a green.
