SED to cover all students under financial inclusion
The School Education Department (SED) has intended to cover all students in Jammu and Kashmir under financial inclusion.
Under financial inclusion, the bank accounts of each and every student shall be opened in the first instance, so the benefits under the various schemes may be transferred to them through direct-to-bank mode.
This was informed to all the Chief Education Officers of Jammu and Kashmir by the Directorate of Samagra Shiksha, Jammu and Kashmir in an official communiqué, a copy of which lies with The New Now.
“As you are aware of fact that, J&K is undergoing a revolutionary movement of Digitization that seeks to convert J&K, into a digitally, enabled and less cash economy. The idea is that people should be given online information about all the services being provided by the Govt”, it reads.
“Financial Literacy and Financial inclusion of all stakeholders, especially of all the Students of J&K UT is much required to make them self sustained in the present digital era. School Education Department intends to cover all the Students under the Financial Inclusion, i.e. the process of ensuring access to appropriate financial products and services”, the official communiqué added.
Further, during the joint meeting held in the office chambers of the Principal Secretary, SED, attended by the Officers of the School Education Department and J&K Bank Representatives, it was decided that, for the financial inclusion of all the Students of UT of J&K, Bank Accounts of each and every student shall be opened in the first instance, so that benefits under various schemes may be transferred to them through DBT mode, it added.
“For this purpose, J&K Bank authorities have agreed to deploy their officials in various Schools, for the opening of Accounts of Students. Therefore, I am directed to request you all, to kindly circulate the following instructions down the line, which needs to be adhered to in letter and spirit”, it added.
HoI/Sr. Teacher shall extend full cooperation and facilitation to Visiting officials of J&K Bank for the “Financial Literacy Programme” and “Account opening”. In case the Bank Account of the Student is already opened, then Aadhaar seeding shall be done, wherever required.
Teachers are to collect the following documents prior to the visit of J&K Bank officials, a copy of the Aadhaar duly attested by the teacher and two passports size photos. Teachers to ensure that the D.O.B on the Aadhaar should match the D.O.B of school records, as the Bank will take the attested copy of the Aadhaar as valid DOB proof.
Besides, this awareness among the students needs to be generated in a mission mode and Students of primary Classes are also to be sensitized for the same through available means. A pamphlet in this regard is also enclosed for ready reference and the Daily status of the Opening of Accounts, needs to be shared with this, it added.
“Directorate, for which one official needs to be nominated from each District/zone, who shall collect the Report from the field and shall share on the (WhatsApp No. 9419213679) for appraisal of higher authorities”, reads the official communiqué issued by Deputy Director (Planning) Samagra Shiksha, J&K Bilal Rashid.
