All 53 trains resume ops from Jammu

The much-awaited remodeling of Bari Brahmana Railway Station was completed this evening, paving way for resumption of operations of all 53 Jammu Tawi and Katra railway stations bound trains from the evening, which remained suspended for nearly one month.

The remodeling work of has been carried out to construction of interlocking system, additional terminals and dedicated lines for goods trains in view of proposed relocation of goods yards at Bari Brahmana Railway Station from Jammu Tawi to decongest the heavily rushed station.

“Bari Brahmana Railway Station was commissioned after completion of work which began on 21 August for a period of 24 days,” said Station Director, Northern Railway, Jammu-Tawi, Uchit Singhal.
He informed that operation of all 53 paired trains from Jammu Tawi, including daily, weeklies and others has resumed by the evening.

“Bari Brahmana Station will also serve as a satellite freight terminal of Jammu Tawi Railway Station,” he said adding “There will be three freight handling lines apart from 2 military handling lines and 4 coaching lines at the station after renovation.

Singhal said that the entire renovation has been aimed to decongest Jammu Station.

The project aimed to free Jammu Tawi Station from freight traffic and pave way for the Jammu station redevelopment project work of which has already started,” the Station director said.

Pertinently train services from Katra and Jammu to other parts of the country will remain affected since August 21 due to non-interlocking work that is in progress at Bari-Brahmana Railway Yard for its remodeling.

The prominent trains which would resume its operation from today evening includes 04615 (PTK-UHP), 04616 (UHP-PTK), 14610 (SVDK-RKSH), 14609 (RKSH-SVDK), 14034 (SVDK-DLI), 14033 (DLI-SVDK), 12469 (CNB-JAT), 12470 (JAT-CNB), 14503 (KLK-SVDK), 14504 (SVDK-KLK), 20986 (UHP-KOTA), 12492 (JAT-BJU), 12491 (BJU-JAT), 04141 (PRYJ-UHP), 04142 (UHP-PRYJ), 19803 (KOTA-SVDK), 19804 (SVDK-KOTA), 12919 (DADN-SVDK), 12920 (SVDK-DADN), 14606 (JAT-YNRK), 14605 (YNRK-JAT), 12208 (JAT-KOM), 12207 (KGM-JAT), 12587 (GKP-JAT) and 15098 (JAT-BOP).
