World Wrestling Championships 2022: Vinesh Phogat made it to the repechage

In Wrestling, three-time Commonwealth Games champion Vinesh Phogat made it to the repechage round in the women’s 53kg at the World Wrestling Championships 2022 in Belgrade, Serbia yesterday.

Vinesh Phogat was handed a shocking 7-0 defeat by 2022 Asian championships silver medalist Khulan Batkhuyag of Mongolia in the qualification round.

Vinesh Phogat will now take on Zhuldyz Eshimova of Kazakhstan in the repechage today. Apart from Vinesh Phogat, last edition’s bronze medalist Sarita Mor, Mansi Ahlawat, Nisha Dahiya, and Reetika will be in action today.

India are yet to win a medal at the world wrestling championships 2022. The 2022 World Wrestling Championships started in Belgrade on September 10 and will go on till September 18.
