In Uttar Pradesh, the first day of Navratri is being celebrated with traditional fervour. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath greeted people, and also gave instructions to the police and administrative officials to keep a strict vigil during the festive season.
Devotees across the state are chanting such mantras to get the blessings of the Shailputri form of goddess Durga today on the first day of Navratri. They are observing fast and perform puja at various Devi temples and also doing kalash sthapna at their homes.
Devotees are reaching in large numbers at famous Shakti peeths of Vindhyachal and Devi Patan templs to worship the goddess of power and to mark the first day of Navratri. From tonight the shardiiya navratra Mela at Vindhyachal dham has also begun.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath yesterday reviewed the law and order situation of the state and asked the officials to increase police petroling in view of the coming festival season which includes many festivals like barawafat, Deepavali, Dussehra and Durga Puja. He said that the Durga Puja functions should be organised in public parks so that there will be no inconvenience to the traffic.
