DRI seizes over 23 kg gold worth Rs 11 crore 65 lakh being smuggled through North-East Borders

Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has seized over 23 kilogram gold valued at 11 crore 65 lakh being smuggled through North-East Borders. Four persons have been arrested in this case.

Finance Ministry said, the recent gold seizures in the North East indicate a spurt in smuggling of gold through North East borders of Bangladesh and Myanmar.

In the past, 11 cases of gold seizures of 121 Kilogram in September this year alone show that the North East corridor is still extensively being used by smugglers.
