Sensex rises 373 points, Nifty surges 117 points in afternoon trade

The Sensex and the Nifty today climbed more than half a percent in the afternoon trade. Both indices gained amid positive cues from the global share markets. The Sensex was trading above 58,400 points while the Nifty was trading near 17,400 level.

The Sensex rose 373 points, or 0.64 percent, to trade at 58,438. The Nifty also surged 117 points, or 0.67 percent, to trade at 17,391. In the forex market, the rupee weakened 27 paise to trade at 81 rupees and 79 paise against the US dollar in afternoon deals.
