Classes 1-9 exams likely in Mar, vacation depends on weather
The School Education Department Thursday said that the annual exams for the class 1st to 9th in the valley will likely be held in the month of March.
Talking to media here in Srinagar, Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Tassaduq Hussain Mir said, “We have sent the proposal to the Jammu and Kashmir government and within this week, the decision will be issued”.
Adding that he said the assessment of the classes 1st to 9th has been done. These classes have a continuous assessment which included Unit 1, Unit 2, Term 1, Unit 3, and Term 2 exams. As of now, we have conducted all the exams except the T-2 exam also called a final exam.
Regarding the vacation, Director School Education Kashmir Tassaduq Hussain Mir said, “Vacations dependent on the weather conditions. If weather condition permits us and there is no minus temperature, classes will be continued till the last December.
“We opened schools after two years amid Covid-19 which led to the learning gaps in schools. To fill the learning gaps we are doing remedial teachings. And, I want to tell you that we have filled 80 per cent of the gaps and the rest remains uncovered”, DSEK Mir said.
“We will be doing our best, we have plans. Educational standards have been set. These are being monitored at the cluster level and there is a remedial level as well. If weather permits we will continue with classes”, he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that SED last month announced that the annual (regular) examination from class 10th to 12th in the Jammu and Kashmir division excluding hard zones shall be held in the month of March. Whereas, Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education listed as many as 444 government schools in the Jammu and Kashmir wherein the exams will be held in the month of April year.
