Sudan: At least 15 people killed in outbreak of ethnic clashes in Blue Nile state

In Sudan, at least 15 people have been killed in the latest outbreak of ethnic clashes after land disputes in country’s southern Blue Nile state.

Yesterday, fighting erupted with residents reporting intense gunfire and homes torched. Fighting broke out after reported arguments over land between members of the Hausa people and rival groups in Wad al Mahi, near Roseires in Sudan’s troubled southern region.

According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, last week clashes in the same area sparked a dispute over land issues left at least 13 people dead and 24 others injured.
