Karnataka celebrates its 67th Rajyotsava Day
Karnataka today is celebrating its 67th Rajyotsava Day, the day when the state came into existence in 1956, based on its linguistic identity. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai inaugurated the State formation day celebrations by unfurling the national flag along with the yellow and red Kannada flag in Bengaluru.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that a new bill will be introduced in the December session of Legislative Assembly, to promote the use of Kannada language in different spheres. Saying that mother tongue Kannada will be conserved and encouraged in the state, Mr. Bommai said rules will be framed for its implementation in all spheres.
He called upon citizens to make it a practice to speak in Kannada and make it part of their life. He informed that the Government has sanctioned the construction of 8000 classrooms this year which he added is a record. He said that in the next three years, there will be sufficient classrooms in the Government schools in the state.
