Infiltration bids foiled along IB in Jammu, militant killed

The BSF foiled two infiltration bids along the International Border (IB) in Jammu frontier early Tuesday, killing an intruder and arresting another, officials said.

“At about 2.30 am today, alert BSF troops noticed suspicious movement of an intruder near the International Border in Arnia sector (of R S Pura area). The intruder crossed over to the Indian side from IB and started moving towards the fence”, Inspector General of BSF, Jammu Frontier, D K Boora told reporters at the force headquarters here.

He said troops warned the intruder many times not to move forward but he didn’t pay any heed and kept aggressively moving toward the fence.

“On this, BSF troops fired and neutralised the intruder and thwarted the infiltration attempt”, he said.
In the second incident, BSF troops observed suspicious movement along the IB in Indreshwar Nagar around 4.30 am.

“In this case, when the intruder tried to cross IB and come near the border fence, he was challenged. He raised his hands to surrender and was nabbed”, he said.

Both incidents shows that attempts to engineer infiltration from across the border are on, he said.

“They keep trying to see whether terrorists can be penetrated through into Indian territory by sending guides from across the border…But we will not allow any infiltration to take place”, he said.

Boora said the BSF is committed to safeguard the borders and will defeat the designs of the enemy to commit terror activities in the country.

Meanwhile, a Pakistani intruder was repatriated to his country within hours of his arrest by Border Security Force (BSF) along the International Border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, an official said.
The intruder was repatriated at a flag meeting between BSF and Pakistan Rangers in Ramgarh sector this afternoon, the official said.

He said Shahzad, a resident of Rangoor village in Pakistan, was arrested in the early hours of the day by the alert BSF when he tried to cross the border fence into this side.

The questioning of the arrested person revealed that he is mentally retarded, the official said.

The Pakistan Rangers confirmed that the arrested person is mentally unfit and accordingly a flag meeting was held and he was handed over to them after completion of necessary formalities, the official said.

In another incident Security forces busted a terror module of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and arrested two active terrorists and their two associates, including a woman, from Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

The terrorists were directed by their handlers in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK)to carry out attacks on civilians, they said.

“In a major breakthrough against terrorist infrastructure in North Kashmir, police along with security forces busted LeT terrorist module by arresting two active terrorists and their two important associates including a woman associate in Bandipora,” a police spokesman said.

He said incriminating materials, huge cache of arms and ammunition and material for preparing IED (improvised explosive device) have been recovered from their possession.

The spokesman said security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Gundbal Nursery and arrested two active terrorists linked with the proscribed terrorist outfit.

“They have been identified as Musaib Mir alias Moya, resident of Rakh Hajin and Arafat Farooq Wagey alias Dr Adil, resident of Gulshnabad Hajin,” he said.

The recoveries included one AK-47 rifle, one AK-56 rifle, four AK series magazines, live rounds, RDX powder, nails and ball bearings, batteries, detonators, IED mechanism circuit, remote control, loose wire and iron pipes.
The joint party also arrested two associates of the LeT terrorists. They were identified as Imran Majeed Mir alias Jaffar Bhaie, resident of Wangipora Sumbal and Suraya Rashid Wani alias Senty alias Tabish, resident of Wahab Parray Mohalla Hajin.

Two hand grenades and other incriminating materials were recovered from their possession.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the busted terrorist module was being handled by LeT terrorist commander Samama alias Babar from PoK. The module was directed to carry out substantial attacks on civilians and security forces to instil fear in the minds of general public,” the spokesman said.

They were also tasked to carry out a powerful IED blast at any crowded public place to cause maximum civilian casualties, he said, adding the arrests have thereby averted a major tragedy.
