Government to scrutinize properties of SHOs
In a significant development to ensure transparency and accountability in Police department, the internal assessment teams of Jammu and Kashmir police has been asked to conduct independent audit of all Station House Officers (SHOs) posted in different police stations across the Union Territory.
As per reliable sources, there are whispering galore in police personnel regarding internal communication for accessing the properties of all Station Police Officers (SHOs) in Jammu and Kashmir.
Unconfirmed reports pouring in said that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), a wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police is preparing the list of the properties of all the Station House Officers.
The issue is a hot topic in the police circle. It is stated that the investigation agencies have asked its designated staff to prepare the property list of the SHOs of their sectors and submit the same in stipulated time.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir government revoked the suspension period of Maqsood-ul-Zaman, SSP, which was suspended for allegedly exhibiting unbecoming conduct as a member of Recruitment Board for recruitment of constables for 2 Border Battalions and had revocation thereof.
“In continuation to the Government Order No. 158-Home (P) of 2022 dated: 27.05.2022 and based on the communications No. PHQ-UM/Crime/FIR/2022-14715-17 dated 07.07.2022 from UT Administration of Ladakh, read with recommendation from PHQ, J&K, vide communication No. GZ/P-CASEJMZ/SP-II/2022 dated 23.06.2022, it is hereby ordered that the period of suspension of Maqsood-ul-Zaman, SSP, with effect from 16.08.2021 to 26.05.2022, shall be treated as the period spent on duty by the officer, in terms of Article 108-B of J&K Civil Service Regulations, 1956”, read the order issued by Jammu and Kashmir Home Department.
The Jammu and Kashmir government had revoked the suspension of senior police officer Maqsood-ul-Zaman and had reinstated him in service after more than nine months on the recommendation of the Review Committee.
Without citing any specific reason the government on 16 August 2021 had issued the order of suspension of Zaman, commandant IR-8th battalion, for “conduct unbecoming of an officer” in his capacity as a member of the board for recruitment of constables for two border battalions and had attached him with the Police Headquarters.
