Sensex rises 243 points to trade at 61,084

The Sensex and the NSE Nifty today witnessed modest gains in the afternoon trade. Index of top 30 companies at Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex, was above the 61,000 mark.

The Nifty, index of top 50 companies at National Stock Exchange, was above 18,150 level. Both indices added around 0.4 percent.

The Sensex rose 243 points to trade at 61,084. The Nifty also gained 70 points to trade at 18,175.
