Over 7 Lakh admissions, 300 hospitals empanelled in J&K
The Union Health Ministry on Friday said that over 7,16,121 admissions have been authorized under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (AB-PMJAY) through a network of 300 hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir.
Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is a national public health insurance fund of the Government of India that aims to provide free access to health insurance coverage for low-income earners in the country.
The Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in a written reply informed that in Jammu and Kashmir, 123 hospitals were empanelled from FY 2019-20 to FY 2021-22, during which the number of authorized hospital admissions was 386772.
The minister further said that the total number of hospitals empanelled in Jammu and Kashmir as of 29.01.2023 is 300. While the total number of authorized hospital admissions during the same time is 716,121.
The minister further informed that during FY 2019-20 over 65247 claims were made under AB-PMJAY on which Rs ..32.83 were spent, 56763 claims were made during FY 2020-21 and an amount of Rs. 45.74 Cr were spent. During FY 2021-22 in Jammu and Kashmir, over 244725 claims were made an amount of Rs 434.60 Cr was spent.
Further, the Minister of Ayush, SarbanandaSonowal in a written reply to Lok Sabha said that five AYUSH Hospitals are under construction in Jammu and Kashmir. That includes one in Kishtwar, Kupwara, Bilawar, Kulgam and Samba.
On setting up of Ayush Centre-Hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir the Minister of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (Ayush) SarbanandaSonowal said as of 01.04.2021 there are currently 11 Ayush hospitals in the Union Territory which include 4 Ayurveda, 4 Unani and 3 Homoeopathy.
The minister further said that during 2019 over 217527 patients took treatment in Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Sowa-Rigpa medical colleges in Jammu and Kashmir; 235877 in 2020; 124506 in the year 2021 and 220944 in the year 2022.
