Jammu Railway Station to soon get airport like amenities by April 2025

The Jammu railway station, one of the busiest stations in the Jammu region, is set to undergo a major transformation with the addition of airport-like amenities for passengers.

“The project is aimed at modernizing the station, includes the construction of a three-story shopping mall with 30 stores where travelers can buy branded products.In addition, passengers will also have access to a traveler’s lounge, dormitory, and underground tunnel at the station,” an official said.

He added that the redevelopment of the Jammu railway station is being carried out at a cost of Rs. 220 crores. The tender process for the shopping mall has been completed, and construction work has already started.

“The station’s new entry gate, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs. 22 crores, will be located near Narwal and will have four new platforms.The project’s main objective is to increase the station’s capacity and provide passengers with better amenities,” he added.

He informed that with this, the station’s platform count will rise to seven and to integrate the old and new platforms, a subway is being built, which will allow passengers to move seamlessly between platforms.

Despite the increasing number of trains and passengers, the station has only three platforms, causing congestion and inconvenience to passengers. The project aims to address this issue and make the station more passenger-friendly.

“The new facilities at the station, including the shopping mall and traveler’s lounge, will provide passengers with a comfortable and enjoyable experience while waiting for their trains. The dormitory will allow passengers to take a rest and freshen up during long journeys, while the underground tunnel will make it easier for passengers to move between platforms,” he added.

The project is expected to be completed by April 2025. The railway authorities have been working tirelessly to ensure that the work is completed on time and with the highest quality standards.
