69.63 lakh plants planted by NHAI till February 2023

The government has said the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has planted more than 344 lakh plants on National Highways from year 2016-17 onward by way of Annual Plantation Action Plans.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said as per Annual Plantation Action Plan 2022-23, a target of 75.51 lakh plants was approved by NHAI out of which 69.63 lakh plants have been planted till last month.

He said to monitor the survival and growth of plants, NHAI launched a Mobile App “Harit Path” in August 2020.

The Minister said 237 lakh plants have been geo-tagged till last month. He said as a second line of monitoring, the plantations are being monitored through monthly drone videography of highways construction development progress including plantations.
