Assistance of more than 201 crore rupees provided to handloom clusters under NHDP in last four years

The Centre today, March 29, informed that under the National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP), the assistance of more than 201 crore rupees has been provided to handloom clusters in the last four years. In a written reply in Lok Sabha, Union Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal informed that under the NHDP, the government provides need-based financial assistance to handloom workers in selected handloom clusters.

He said since the financial year 2015-16, assistance has been provided to 619 clusters across the country benefiting around sixty thousand handloom workers. The NHDP programme provides looms and upgraded accessories and skill upgradation to handloom workers.
