Final day of 1st Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group meeting under India’s G20 Presidency to take place in Gujarat
On the third and final day of the 1st Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group meeting under India’s Presidency, a technical session on Ecosystem-based Approaches to Disaster Risk Reduction will be held today, April 1. The three-day meeting of the Working Group which is being held at Gandhinagar in Gujarat began on Thursday, March 30.

Around 100 delegates from the G20 member countries, invitee countries, and nine International organisations are participating in the three-day event. Today, the participating delegates will also be taken on a field visit to Smritivan Earthquake Memorial and Museum at Bhuj. Yesterday, on the second day of the meeting, the discussion was held on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, Financing for Disaster Risk Reduction and Post Disaster Response, Recovery, and “Build Back Better”. Five priority areas have been identified for the Working Group for discussion which includes an early warning for all, disaster-resilient infrastructure, and stronger national financial frameworks.
