Water level above normal in Dal Lake
Srinagar, July 25, KNT: Dal dwellers Tuesday alleged that the water level in the interiors of the lake is still above normal as a result that they are facing a lot of hardships.
They said in this holy month of Muharram they were expecting Lakes Conservation and Management Authority will take some measures to ease the suffering of the people but nothing changed on the ground.
“For the past two months, we have been appealing to LC&MA Vice Chairman to reduce the water level but all in vain. There is a danger of inundation,” some of the Dal dwellers told the news agency Kashmir News Trust.
They said normally the water level in the lake remains below 9 feet but the reasons better known to Vice Chairman LC&MA water level has been raised to above 10 feet, much to their annoyance.
Dozens of vegetable gardens in the Lake will get damaged if the water level increases further, the inhabitants said.
The Dal dwellers alleged that all it is being done to hide the pollution level of the water body. They said there is complete mismanagement on the part of LC&MA. [KNT]
