Suspected leopard mauls 7-year-old boy to death in Bandipora’s Nesbal village

Bandipora, Aug 29, KNT: A suspected leopard mauled to death a seven-year-old boy in Nesbal village of Sumbal in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday night.

The body was, however, found during the morning hours of Tuesday.

The deceased, who has been identified as Zaid Bashir, had gone missing late Monday evening hours when the suspected leopard reportedly attacked and dragged him away.

His parents later came to know that the boy was missing after they called the children to have their dinner and raised an alarm.

Locals with the help of CRPF, Police and Army personnel immediately launched a search operation and also found the blood stains of the boy near a hillock. However, they failed to trace the missing kid. The search operation resumed on Tuesday morning and the body of the boy was found in mutilated state.

The incident sent shock waves among locals who made a fervent appeal to authorities to curb the movement of the wild animals in the area. They said this was the second incident in the locality. [KNT]
