Contractor extracting material from Nallah Sindh to save money
Sonamarg, Sep 14, KNT: Roads and Buildings Department has awarded a contract to a private individual to renovate and refurbish an amusement park at tourist resort Sonamarg, however, locals allege that the contractor instead of procuring construction material from the market has employed laborers to extract sand and gravel from Nallh Sindh, which is against the norms.
They said workers employed by the contractor can be seen extracting sand, boulders, and gravel from the nearby Nallah Sinh beside the amusement park. “The contractor in order to save money is eroding the natural stream. R&B Department is acting as a mute spectator and not taking action against the said contractor,” the locals said.
The locals appealed to R&B officials to take note of this violation and stop the contractor from eroding Nallah Sindh. [KNT]
