India’s medal tally reaches all all-time high of 94 comprising 24 gold, 27 silver and 43 bronze
In the Asian Para Games at Hangzhou, India’s overall medal haul has surged to an impressive 94 comprising of 24 gold, 27 silver and 43 bronze. This remarkable feat supersedes India’s previous best of 72 medals, which was recorded in the 2018th edition of Asian Para Games at Indonesia.
Today, Sheetal Devi kickstarted the day with a podium finish winning gold in Archery compound open event. Suhas Yathiraj, the enthusiastic IAS officer, clinched gold in the men’s singles SL-4 category. In men’s Badminton singles SL3 event, India dominated with two podium finishes. Pramod Bhagat secured the coveted gold, while Nitesh Kumar brought home the Silver. In the Badminton women’s singles SU5 category, Thulasimathi clinched gold defeating China’s Quixia Yang, with a score of 2-0. Earlier, in the men’s 1500m T-38 event, Raman Sharma bagged gold clocking an impressive 4:20.80. In the men’s F64 discus throw event, Devendra Kumar clinched gold.
In the Badminton men’s singles SH6 category, Krishna Nagar bagged Silver. In discus throw F37/38 event Lakshmi secured a bronze with a throw of 22.55 meters. In the men’s javelin throw F-54 event, India triumphed with double podium, Pradeep Kumar bagged Silver, and Abhishek Chamoli secured bronze with a toss of 25.04 meters while Laxit in the F-54 category got the bronze.
Indian contingent will aim to maintain its winning streak at the Games in Lawn Bowl, Athletics, Archery, Badminton, Swimming, Shooting, Chess, Cycling, Powerlifting, and Table Tennis scheduled throughout the day.
Yesterday, Indian athletes added a total of 18 medals to its tally including three gold, three silver, and 12 bronze.
