Local LeT militant killed in South Kashmir’s Pulwama
Pulwama, Dec 1, KNT: A local militant affiliated with the banned outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba was killed in a gunfight in Arihal village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police said.
The deceased militant has been identified as Kifayat Ayoub Alaie, a resident of Pinjora hamlet of Shopian.
Police said that after receiving information about the presence of militants, joint forces including Pulwama Police, soldiers from 44 Rashtriya Rifles, and men from 182 Battalion CRFP cordoned off Arihal village.
During the search operation, the joint team encountered indiscriminate firing. During the exchange of fire, a militant from LeT was killed and his body was recovered from the encounter site.
Police said that the slain militant was involved in militancy-related cases. It further said that ‘significant incriminating materials, along with arms and ammunition including a pistol, 2 magazines, 5 RDS, 2 grenades, were recovered from the encounter site. All recovered items are now part of the case records for further investigation.’
Police said that a case under relevant provisions of law has been registered, and the investigation has been taken up. [KNT]
