6 lakh 16 thousand 300 villages have mobile connectivity in country, says Communications & Electronics Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw
The Government has said out of six lakh 44 thousand 131 villages, around six lakh 16 thousand 300 villages have mobile connectivity in the country.

Replying to a question in the Lok Sabha, Communications and Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the government has taken numerous initiatives to enhance internet connectivity in the country. India has seen the fastest rollout of 5G services in the world with 3.99 lakhs Base Trans-receivers Station, BTS deployed across around 738 districts.
He said BTS has increased from 6.49 lakhs in March 2014 to 24.42 lakhs in March this year. The number of internet users has increased from 25.15 crore in March 2014 to 88.22 crore in March 2023. The cost of data has reduced drastically from 269 rupees per GB in March 2014 to 9 rupees 94 paise per GB in March this year.
