Ladakh gears up to host first part of 4th edition of Khelo India Winter Games

Ladakh is geared up to host the first part of the  4th Edition of the Khelo India Winter Games scheduled to commence officially from February 2 to 6 at Leh.

 

The preparations are in full swing to ensure the successful conduct of this prestigious sporting event. Advisor Dr. Pawan Kotwal reviewed the preparation in infrastructural readiness, accommodation facilities, security arrangements and safety protocols for well-being of athletes during a meeting held yesterday.

It will be inaugurated by the Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anurag Singh Thakur at Leh on February 2.

The Second and final part of the Khelo India Winter Games scheduled later from February 21 to 25 is being hosted by the Jammu and Kashmir.

Two disciplines of winter Games namely Ice Hockey and Ice Speed Skating will be contested in Ladakh whereas Jammu and Kashmir will host other disciplines like Ski Mountaineering, Apline Sking, Snowboarding, Nordic Ski and Gandola.

Ladakh is hosting for the first time  Khelo India winter Games and is also excited to welcome 600 athletes from 16 states in these two sporting events.

Three venues have been elaborately from all key aspects of necessary arrangements are in placed at NDS Sport Stadium, Army Ice Hockey Rink and Spithuk Ice Hockey Rink.

Earlier, Lieutenant Governor Brigadier (Retired) Dr B D Mishra and LG Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha have officially launched the logo of Khelo India Winter Games and Mascot.
