Scuffle: Man arrested after his younger brother succumbs
Police arrested a man in North Kashmir’s Sopore on charges of ‘murdering’ his younger brother.
Local sources said that a few days ago, there was a scuffle between two brothers over an ‘immaterial’ issue. The elder brother (Tawseef Rashid Bhat) hit his younger brother (Abid Rashid Bhat) with a rod who sustained injuries. He was shifted to Sub-District Hospital Sopore where doctors referred him to SKIMS Srinagar and today he succumbed to his injuries.
Taking cognizance of the incident, police arrested the accused and registered a case vide FIR number 2-2024 under section 302.
Locals claimed that the accused might have never thought that his action would land him in jail. “It seems unintentional but death has occurred and it is a murder in the eyes of the law,” they said.
The incident occurred in the Wadoora area of Sopore town in Baramulla district. [KNT]
