The Suryanarayana Swamy temple in Arasavalli was beautifully decorated for the annual festival of Ratha Saptami. The festival was inaugurated with Ksheerabhishekham to the temple shrine in the early hours of today by the temple priests and pontiffs of the various Hindu religious organizations.
Minister for revenue Dharmana Prasada Rao, MPs Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and Bellana Chandra Shekhar and MLAs, MLCs, officials and Special darshan ticket holders witnessed the celestial event.
The Arasavalli Temple is the largest temple dedicated to the Sun god in the south, second only to the Konark Temple in Odisha.
The district administration, including the endowment and police authorities, has made extensive arrangements for the smooth conduct of celebrations at the temple. The district collector, Manzir Gilani, and the Superintendent of Police, Radhika, inspected the preparations and announced that elderly people, infants, and their mothers would be given priority for Seeghra darshan.
Emergency medical facilities have been arranged along the queue lines from Thursday night to Friday night, including ambulances. Drinking water facilities have been set up at 12 locations inside and outside the temple. Traffic restrictions have already been imposed by the authorities. It is expected that more than 150,000 devotees will visit the temple today to seek the blessings of lord Suryanarayana Swamy on the auspicious occasion of Ratha Saptami.
