Campaigning Picks Up Pace Ahead Of Second Phase Of General Elections

As the first phase of the general elections concluded on April 19, the political battleground in India has heated up with senior leaders and star campaigners from various parties crisscrossing the nation to sway voters. With just four days remaining until the campaigning for the second phase wraps up, leaders are sparing no effort in their bid to win over constituents.

 

 

The second phase of polling will see elections in several key states, including Kerala, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Tripura, and Jammu and Kashmir.

On Sunday, senior BJP leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed rallies in Maharashtra and Karnataka. During his speeches, he highlighted the work done by his governemnet in last decade and sought blessings for the upcoming elections.

In Kerala, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi campaigned for the United Democratic Front (UDF), addressing gatherings in Eriyad and Pathanamthitta. Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, senior BJP leader Amit Shah expressed confidence in his party’s prospects, stating that the people of the state would ensure victory for the BJP across all 80 seats.

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi also joined the campaign trail, promising farmers loan waivers if the “I.N.D.I.A” alliance wins the election. He made these remarks during a rally in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh.
