Militant associate arrested from Uri: Police
Police Thursday said that it arrested a militant associate belonging to the outlawed Lashkar-e-Taiba from the Uri division of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. The police said that arms and ammunition were also recovered from the arrested militant associate.
He has been identified as Farooq Ahmed Khokar of Kalsi Kamalkoot.
The police said that on a specific input of militant movement in Uri Kamalkoot Mandayan area, a joint patrol was carried out at the General area of Kamalkoot Mandayan by Baramulla Police and soldiers from 8 Rashtriya Rifles.
During patrolling suspicious movement of one person coming towards the patrolling party on foot was observed. While seeing the police party and security forces, the suspect person tried to flee from the spot but the alert patrolling party apprehended him tactfully.
During his search a pistol, 2 magazines, and 20 pistol rounds were recovered from his possession.
In this regard, a case under sections UA (P) & Arms Act has been registered in PS URI and investigation has been taken up. [KNT ]
