Indian women chess team secure victory over Switzerland

In the 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad, India’s women’s chess team secured an important 3-1 victory over Switzerland at Budapest, Hungary yesterday.  R Vaishali, Divya Deshmukh and Vantika Agarwal scored victories to ensure a 3-1 win over Switzerland, despited a shock defeat for D Harika on the top board.

 

 

D Harika faced Alexandra Kosteniuka, former world women’s champion. The Indian team recovered through strong performances by other three players. This win will keep them in a joint lead with six points in the Olympiad.
