Corruption: CBI Arrests Revenue Official in Kathua

KNT: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a revenue official in Kathua district for Jammu Division demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. The accused Patwari was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe from a complainant in exchange for attesting a land mutation document.

  According to the CBI, the case was registered on Wednesday after the complainant reported the official’s demands for a bribe. The agency laid a trap and successfully caught the Patwari in the act.

  The accused was produced in court on Thursday and remanded to judicial custody for 12 days. Further investigations are underway, with the CBI conducting searches at the accused’s residential premises. [KNT]
