J&K Government to Restores Academic Session to November-December for Up to 9th Standard

KNT: In a significant development, Jammu and Kashmir’s Education Minister, Sakina Itoo, announced that the academic session for students up to 9th standard will be restored to November-December, deviating from the previous March session.

The Uniform Academic Calendar, introduced in 2022, sought to synchronize Jammu and Kashmir’s academic session with the national pattern, however, the stakeholders, including parents, students and educationists had opposed the decision back then citing the distinct topography and weather pattern of Kashmir Valley.

Minister Sakina Itoo clarified that the restoration will be implemented in phases. “For now, we will restore the academic session to November-December up to 9th standard. For students of 10th to 12th, the academic session will be restored from next year,” she stated.

Meanwhile, the netizens on social media welcomed the government’s decision. The majority of people termed it a wise and much-awaited decision. [KNT]
