Police Attach Property of Notorious Drug Peddler Under NDPS Act in Bijbehara
KNT: Police in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district have attached the property of habitual drug peddler Javaid Dar under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Dar, a resident of Tulkhan Bijbehara, has a history of drug-related offenses, with his latest arrest on September 6, 2024, yielding a substantial quantity of Codeine Phosphate.
The police action was prompted by evidence of illicit earnings being funneled into property acquisition. As a result, Police Station Bijbehara seized Dar’s assets, including a residential property in Tulkhan valued at over 45 lakh rupees.
Police said that Javaid Dar’s record, includes multiple past cases dating back to February 2020. The investigation revealed that Javaid’s primary income from agriculture was insufficient to justify his property investments, leading to action under Section 68(1) of the NDPS Act. This measure prevents any potential sale or modification of the property. [KNT]
