Second Day Of Festival Chhath Puja Being Observed Today

In Bihar, elaborate security arrangements have been made in view of the mega festival of Chhath Puja across the state. On the second day of the festival today, the ritual of Kharna will be performed.

After offering prayers to the Sun God and her mother, Chhathi Maiya, devotees will consume Kheer and roti as a prasad. The ritual is also known as Lohanda in several parts of the state. After the Kharna a 36-hour long fast will begin in which devotees abstain from eating and drinking. The festival will culminate on Friday after paying oblation to the rising Sun.

Special arrangement are put in place for better crowd management on Chhath Ghats. Traffic will be restricted on the day of Arghyas to the sun God in Patna and other cities of Bihar.

Special drive of cleanliness is also being conducted on the banks of rivers where Chhath Ghats have been set up. In Patna 102 Chhath Ghat have been declared safe to perform Puja on the banks of Ganga river.

Large number of devotees have gathered to perform Chhath Puja celebrations at Sun temples located at different places in the state. Special puja is performed at Deo Sun temple in Aurangabad, Ongaridham temple in Nalanda and Hadiya Surya Mandir in Nawada district.

To stop the incidents of capsize, plying of private boats in rivers have been banned till 8th November. Teams of NDRF and SDRF with divers have been also deployed on the banks of rivers.
