Police arrests 4 smugglers in Ganderbal, Kulgam

Police in Ganderbal have arrested 2 smugglers and have seized illegally procured forest produce in the jurisdiction of PS Gund. Similarly, Police in Kulgam have recovered contraband substances from two drug peddlers in two separate incidents.
According to the Associated News Bureau (ANB), on a specific input, a Police party of PS Gund under the supervision of SDPO Kangan, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK18C-6556 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Bashir Ahmad Raina son of Habibullah Rania resident of Ganivan Kangan, Fareed Ahmad Akhoon son of Ab Ahad Akhoon resident of Rayil Gagangir. During search, a significant quantity of illegally procured forest produce popularly known as “Kuth” packed in 16 gunny bags have been seized. They have been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 48/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Gund and investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile, the Police in Kulgam have recovered contraband substances from two drug peddlers in two separate incidents.
At a specific checkpoint established at Furrah, a Police party of Police Post Mirbazar intercepted a person carrying a nylon bag. He has been identified as Nazam Hussain son of Mumtaz Hussain resident of Bass Bass Chanderkote Ramban. During the search, officers present were able to recover 10.2 kilograms of poppy straw from his possession.
Meanwhile, a Police party of PS Kulgam at a checkpoint established at Chattabal Kulgam near Public Park, arrested a drug peddler identified as Hoorun Salam Son of Ab Salam Nanada resident of Gasran Kulgam. During the search, 7 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been taken up.
People are requested to cooperate with police in the battle against the drug menace and any information regarding anti-social activity in their neighbourhood should be shared with a nearby police unit or Dial-112 so that timely action against the culprits will be taken. (ANB)
