Government to tackle depression and drug abuse with new policy: Sakina Itoo
KNT: Minister of Health and Medical Education, Sakina Itoo Wednesday said that government has plans to address rising depression among children, youth, and the elderly in Kashmir.
She acknowledged the widespread issue, citing known reasons, and emphasized a collective approach to tackle it.
While talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function at SKICC Srinagar, Sakina Itoo said that a compact policy is being formulated to address depression, and stakeholders will be consulted to ensure its effectiveness.
‘Additionally, the government aims to curb drug abuse, another significant concern affecting Kashmir’s youth. The Department of Social Welfare has already stepped up efforts to combat drug abuse by engaging youth in sports and awareness programs,” she said. [KNT]
