Inspector Fisheries Dept Absconding, Court Issues Fresh Arrest Warrant

A Jammu court has issued a fresh non-bailable warrant against an Inspector of Fisheries Department namely Rajesh Singh Jasrotia.
Jasrotia has been absconding since November 11 and has failed to surrender as directed by the High Court of J&K and Ladakh.
According to the Associated News Bureau (ANB), Jasrotia, serving in District Kishtwar, is accused of harassing his supervisory officer, Anu Bala, Assistant Director Fisheries, using caste-related remarks.
The Principal District and Sessions Judge, Jammu, Y. P. Bourney directed the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu to constitute a special team to execute the warrant.
The court also issued notice to Jasrotia’s surety, warning of necessary action if he fails to secure the accused’s presence on the next hearing date.
The High Court cancelled Jasrotia’s bail on November 4, 2024, citing the “worst form of bench hunting/forum shopping.” Justice M. A. Chowdhary expressed displeasure over Jasrotia’s conduct and the court’s assignment of his two applications to different courts on the same day.
Jasrotia was initially granted interim bail by the Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu, on August 28, 2021. The High Court rejected Jasrotia’s application seeking an extension of time to surrender on November 12, 2024. (ANB)
