Three die after car travelling in wrong direction plunges into river in Doda

Three persons including the driver were killed after a private car skidded off the road and plummeted into the Chenab River near Khandote village of Doda district on Saturday morning.
Official sources said that the victims, identified as Ranjeet Kumar (25) and his relatives Beli Ram (60) and Puran Devi (60), were traveling from Charya village to Jammu when the accident occurred.
They said the dead body of one of the passengers namely Puran Devi was recovered from the riverbank, while efforts are on to trace the car and the  two other occupants who are feared dead.
A police official while talking to reoporters expressed surprise over the accident, stating that passengers traveling to Doda were involved in a crash on a 40-foot-wide highway, despite having ample space to maneuver. The official said that the incident occurred while the passengers were traveling in the wrong direction. [KNT]
