Demand for more KV’s exposes vested interests & myopic politics of NC; GLR

Girdhari Lal Raina, Former Member of the Legislative council and spokesperson of BJP JK-UT has criticised National Conference for its double standards, deceptive politics and hypocrisy exposed by its stand on new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) in JK-UT.

GL Raina appreciated and welcomed the decision of the union government for its decision to boost education infrastructure by approving establishment of 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and 28 Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVs) across the country, out of which 13 will be in Jammu Kashmir. It has to be remembered that KVs were initiated in 1962 to provide uniform, cost effective and high-quality education for the children, he added. Over the decades KVs have emerged as educational institutions of excellence even in remote areas of the country including Jammu Kashmir preferred by common people of all regions irrespective of their religious faith, GL Raina asserted.

BJP spokesperson highlighted that the approval for the establishment of 13 new KVs in JK-UT brought joy to local residents of areas where these new KVs stand sanctioned and all of them including elected representatives belonging to even NC hailed the decision on record, besides thanking the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji for approving these KV schools. The people of other areas, political representatives included, have demanded establishment of more KVs in their respective areas to overcome significant challenges faced by students in accessing quality education at affordable cost.

This is in spite of the fact that these KVs follow a uniform academic calendar throughout the country and hold examinations in February –March every year. This raises a serious question mark on the decision of the NC government about reversal of the academic calendar recently, Ex-MLC pointed out.

Echo system in collaboration with vested interests was used to reverberate in chorus for restoration of the November session in schools across Kashmir Valley and winter zones of Jammu region, says EX-MLC. He criticised the government for succumbing to pressure from vested interests and political calculations and instead prioritising interests of the students and their parents for whom KVs continue to be the first preference. Education and interests of students, the future of the nation must not be subjected to narrow political considerations of the ruling alliance, GL Raina opined.
