Former Karnataka CM S. M. Krishna passes away: President & PM express condolences

Former Chief Minister of Karnataka and Former Union Minister S. M. Krishna passed away at the age of 92 early this morning at his residence in Sadashivanagar, Bengaluru due to prolonged health issues.

 

S. M. Krishna held several prominent positions during his illustrious political career. He served as the Chief Minister of Karnataka from 1999 to 2004 and as the External Affairs Minister from 2009 to 2012. He also served as the 18th Governor of Maharashtra between 2004 and 2008.

President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the passing of former Karnataka Chief Minister SM Krishna. In a social media post, President Murmu wrote, Mr. Krishna served people in various capacities during his long career in public life. She added that the former Karnataka Chief Minister earned people’s affection for his commitment to development of the state.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi hailed SM Krishna as a remarkable leader known for his focus on infrastructural development in Karnataka. In a social media post, Mr. Modi said that the former Karnataka Chief Minister worked tirelessly for the lives of the citizens and also remembered him as a prolific reader and thinker.
