Two explosive devices defused in Kashmir

Joint forces defused two explosive devices in separate incidents in Kashmir Valley on Wednesday.
In South Kashmir’s Shopian district, an old and rusted explosive device was discovered in the Kashew area of Zainapora. A joint team of the Central Reserve Police Force and the Army’s Rashtriya Rifles identified the device during routine surveillance. Traffic was halted, and a bomb disposal squad was summoned to safely destroy the device, officials confirmed.
In a separate incident, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) concealed in a bag was found on the Handwara-Baramulla highway in Langate in Kupwara district, by a joint patrolling team of the Army and police. The suspicious bag prompted the immediate suspension of traffic on the busy highway. After careful inspection, the bomb disposal squad transported the device to an isolated area, where it was defused through a controlled detonation.
Police registered cases regarding both incidents under relevant sections of law. [KNT]
