Pumphouse At Diver Lolab Faces Extended Delay; Courtesy Inefficient Admin
Despite its completion in April 2024, the Pumphouse at village Diver, part of the much hyped Jal Jeevan Mission’s “Har Ghar Jal” scheme, remains non-functional, leaving the residents to suffer through a decades-long water crisis.
Approved by the Gram Sabha on August 20, 2020, and technically sanctioned on August 25, 2022, the project, with central funding of 315 lakhs and state funding of 35 lac, began construction on May 25, 2023.
However, the pumphouse continues to be non-operational. The Youth Welfare Association Diver Anderbugh visited the site and contacted Assistant Engineer Touseef Ahmad of the PHE department, who cited a lack of electric transformer as the primary reason for the delay.
Ahmad confirmed that the PDD department has approved the necessary machinery, and the pumphouse is expected to become operational within four days.
Due to this pathetic delay, the residents of Diver are grappling with severe water scarcity.
The Youth Welfare Association has now intensified its efforts, demanding accountability and immediate action to end this prolonged crisis. (ANB)
