Associated News Bureau
A massive fire broke out early on Tuesday in Bahaudin Sahab, Nowhatta, causing extensive damage to six residential houses and three shops.
City Divisional Fire Officer (DFO), Muzaffer Ahmad, told the Associated News Bureau that the fire spread rapidly through the densely packed structures. “We received a call at 8:36 AM and immediately dispatched fire tenders from Babademb, Rainawari, Nowshera, and headquarters. Thanks to the prompt response from our teams, after rigorous efforts, we were able to contain the flames and prevent further damage in this highly congested area,” he said.
The fire engulfed six residential structures and three shops, with two gas cylinders exploding during the incident, according to the DFO.
Highlighting the challenges faced during the operation, Muzaffer Ahmad added, “The presence of vehicles illegally parked on the already narrow and congested roads made our operations significantly more difficult. We urge the general public to cooperate with us by ensuring clear access to facilitate smooth firefighting operations.”
It is pertinent to mention that the first responder to any fire incident is often an individual, department and other NGOs have already requested the general public to follow dos and don’ts for fire safety. (ANB)
