Omar Abdullah Chairs Meeting on Mysterious Deaths in Rajouri, Directs Speedy Investigation
KNT: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah convened a high-level meeting to address the alarming situation in Budhal village, Rajouri district, where a mysterious illness has claimed 16 lives, with the latest fatality reported today.
The meeting, attended by senior health, police, and administrative officials, reviewed ongoing investigations. Health Secretary Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah briefed the Chief Minister, revealing that extensive testing of water, food, and other materials had not identified any contaminants. National institutes such as ICMR and NCDC were involved, but no conclusive cause was determined.
Police investigations highlighted that the fatalities were confined to three families within a small radius, raising further concerns. Omar Abdullah directed health and police departments to expedite efforts, emphasizing the government’s commitment to uncovering the root cause.
“The unexplained nature of these deaths is deeply concerning. We are committed to identifying the cause and ensuring justice for the affected families,” the Chief Minister said.
