Drug Trafficking Network Exposed in Karan Nagar Operation : Police

In a major crackdown on illegal drug trafficking, Srinagar Police claimed to have seized a significant consignment of illegal drugs being transported through a courier service in Karan Nagar. The operation was carried out at the Chota Bazar office of Shree Maruti Courier Service based on specific intelligence inputs, said a spokesperson while sharing details with Associated News Bureau.
A thorough search of the courier premises, conducted in compliance with legal protocols, led to the recovery of a substantial cache of drugs. The seized items include:
Mavrix-T Codeine: 220 bottles
Spasmoproxyvon: 15 boxes (each containing 7 strips)
Pregabalin: 60 strips
A case has been registered under FIR No. 01/2025 at Police Station Karan Nagar under relevant sections of the law. The police have launched a detailed investigation to trace the supply chain of the contraband, both upstream and downstream, he said.
Additionally, a manhunt is underway to apprehend those involved in the trafficking network. The Srinagar Police have reiterated their commitment to combating the drug menace in the city and have appealed to the public to report any suspicious activities.
“This operation underscores our resolve to ensure a drug-free community. We urge citizens to be vigilant and support us in this fight against the drug trade,” police spokesperson added.
The action has sent a strong message to traffickers and is expected to serve as a deterrent against the misuse of courier services for illegal activities. (ANB)
